Constructed in just six months using shovels and manual labor, the tunnel stretched from the Dobrinja neighborhood to Butmir, near Sarajevo Airport. Workers dug 24/7 under shelling, creating a narrow passage (1m wide, 1.6m high) through a private home's basement. Wooden beams supported its clay walls, enabling perilous journeys for civilians and soldiers.

The tunnel facilitated the transport of food, fuel, weapons, and humanitarian aid, sustaining 300,000 trapped residents.
